Professional Videography Training for Business

Learn the universal skills of filmmaking—Lighting, Audio, and Manual Exposure—and apply them immediately using your smartphone, which can be incredibly powerful cinema cameras—if you take them off "AUTO"

In this workshop, I will teach you the 'Fundamentals of Cinematography'. We use the Blackmagic App to unlock the manual controls hidden inside your camera phone.

What makes this course different? This is not a "TikTok Trends" class. It is a technical foundation in filmmaking. You will learn to master aperture, ISO, shutter speed, white balance, frame rates and much more.

  • These skills are also 100% transferable. Whether you are shooting on an iPhone today or upgrading to a professional cinema camera or DSLR next year, the physics remain the same. You are learning a lifelong skill, starting with the device in your pocket.

Who is this course for?

  • Marketing Teams: Who want their in-house content to match their brand's premium look.

  • Business Owners: Who want to understand how they can achieve high quality video, but may not have the resources to hire a professional crew constantly.

  • Aspiring Creators: Who want to learn manual camera control without spending thousands £££ on a DSLR setup just yet.

Course Options

The course has been split into 4 distinct modules, outlined below, that cover the essentials of videography. It can be delivered as a half day course for both groups and 1:1 sessions but you can also tailor your training by choosing individual modules.

If you feel like you just want some training in EDITING, we can do that. If you'd prefer to cover fundamentals of videography theory, that is also an option.

OPTION 1: THE FULL COURSE

(Most Popular)

The complete "Zero to Hero" experience. We cover all 4 modules in a single half-day session.

  • Duration: 4 Hours (Half-Day)

  • Format: Available as a Team Workshop or 1:1 Intensive.

  • What you get: The complete workflow: Videography Fundamentals, Pre-Production Planning, Shooting with Blackmagic, and Editing in Resolve.

  • Outcome: You leave with a finished video and the skills to do it again.

The complete course also includes 3x practical exercises to allow you to get familiar with each module of the course, ensuring it clicks.

OPTION 2: BUILD YOUR OWN

(Single Modules)

Already know how to shoot but stuck on the edit? Just need to fix your audio? Book individual 1-hour "Power Hours" to master a specific skill.

Popular Single Modules (1 Hour Each):

  • The Editing Masterclass (DaVinci Resolve): The #1 struggle for creators. Stop wasting time on fiddly phone apps. We teach you to cut, colour grade, and mix audio using professional FREE desktop software.

  • Camera Mechanics: Master the Exposure Triangle, Frame Rates, and the Blackmagic App.

  • Lighting & Audio: How to light an office and record crystal-clear sound in echoey rooms.

Module 1:
The Fundamentals of Videography

Before we shoot, we learn how cameras actually work. These concepts are universal—whether you are using an iPhone, a mirrorless camera, or a cinema rig.

  • Frame Rates & Resolution: Understanding the difference between 24fps (Cinema), 25fps (TV), and 50fps (Slow Motion), and when to use 4K vs 1080p.

  • The Exposure Triangle: A deep dive into Aperture, ISO  and Shutter Speed.

  • The 180° Shutter Rule: The secret to "Cinematic Motion." We teach you why your current video looks "jittery" and how to fix it using the correct shutter angle (1/50th sec).

Module 2:
Pre-Production &
Planning

Great videos are made before the record button is pressed. I teach you to plan like a pro and eliminate as much stress as possible. Asking the right questions to guide your videos in the right direction.

  • Scripting & The Hook: How to structure your video to grab attention in the first 3 seconds.

  • Storyboarding & Shot Lists: Creating a visual plan so you know exactly what b-roll to capture on the day.

  • Location Scouting: How to assess a room for light and sound before you start setting up.

  • This part builds on your new knowledge of videography and puts it into practical use cases.

Module 3:
Production
& Capture

Moving beyond "Auto Mode." We use the Blackmagic Camera App to unlock the manual controls hidden in your phone, teaching you skill that are directly transferable to a DSLR.

  • Manual Camera Control: Locking your White Balance (to avoid colour shifts), setting manual ISO to reduce noise, and using focus peaking to ensure sharpness.

  • Lighting Physics: How to use natural light (The Window Rule) and practical lamps to create a 3-Point Lighting Setup (Key, Fill, Backlight).

  • Audio Capture: Why "Audio is 50% of the video." Best practices for using lapel mics (like the DJI Mic Mini) to isolate the voice from unwanted noise.

Module 4:
Post-Production
(DaVinci Resolve)

Stop using fiddly mobile apps. We teach you a professional workflow using DaVinci Resolve (Free Desktop Software).

  • Project Settings: How to correctly set up your timeline to match your camera's frame rate

  • The Cut Page: Efficient workflows for assembling your story and cutting to the beat.

  • Fairlight (Audio Mixing): A dedicated look at audio post-production—balancing voice levels, sound effects/foley and mixing music.

  • Colour & Delivery: Basic colour grading to make your footage pop, and exporting the final file for your chosen social media platform.
